On behalf of the Bluebonnet committee I would like to welcome you to the 2012 Bluebonnet Brew-Off. The Bluebonnet Brew-Off is the largest single site homebrew competition in the United States if not the world.
Our guest speaker this year will be the acclaimed beer writer Stan Hieronymus. Most of us will know Stan as the author of “brew like a MONK”. It has been said in the UK by fellow beer writer Roger Protz that Stan is the second coming of the late and great beer writer, Michael Jackson. Stan is looking forward to sitting down and judging second round with us.
Dates for this year’s competition are:
Entries Accepted: January 20th – February 24th (25th if you help w/login)
Login: February 25th (Coors Ft. Worth)
1st Round Judging: March 3rd-4th, 10th-11th (Coors Ft. Worth)
Event: March 23rd-24th (Westin DFW Airport)
New to this year’s competition is the limit of only 1 entry per sub category. If you should happen to accidentally send in a second entry for any sub category our crew at login will thank you mightily for the lunch beverage donation. If there are enough double entries I believe our treasurer will finally get his new brew stand. I hope everyone has already started their lagers and there is not much time left to brew an ale.
The best of luck to everyone. It’s going to be a great competition. I hope to see both a lot of veteran attendees and new faces this year.
Prosit!!!!
Fred David

Stan Hieronymus is a man of many questions. Dan Carey of New Glarus Brewing likened him to the television detective Columbo, saying, “You are leaving, then there is always one more question.” He’s shared their answers in hundreds of magazine articles, contributed to numerous books and authored two of specific interest to technical brewers: “Brew Like a Monk” and “Brewing with Wheat.” Another, “For the Love of Hops,” will available from Brewers Publications in September.
